The appearance of the brand
The beginning of Opta brand dates from 2013 when Camilo Leite, immersed in the international arena of the wine sector, establishes a partnership with the winemaker Nuno Cancela de Abreu, in order to bring to the market a new Option to satisfy the simple pleasure of enjoying what is Portuguese. In a logic of new market segments conquest, the strategy of complementary references was the argument that led to the commercial synergy which made it possible not only to open doors to new markets, but also to mark a more competitive position in them. Offering a comprehensive portfolio, not of a single reference but of an array of references, which allows to provide a good response to the market and thus compete in the various segments, reinforcing the image of brands.
Opta is born with a focus on the export markets and the international consumer, asserting itself for its originality, as well as the dynamism that makes it able to monitor trends and take part in world growth. It is a brand designed to fly around the world, and take our “Portugality” in each bottle, aiming to be the choice for national production beyond borders. Distinguishing itself by its highly patriotic sense of the brand, the Opta name, derived from the word option, arises with the purpose of encouraging the customer to opt for what is Portuguese, opting for Portugal.
The swallow is one of the most common birds in Portugal and is found not only in the sky but also stylized in pottery and ceramics, hanging from balconies or even applied on facades. Throughout the twentieth century, the swallow became a popular symbol due to its cheerful, brave and skillful nature, both traveling as faithful, returning in spring, year after year, where they stay until the end of summer. Also for its romantic symbolism, lumped together with values of home, family and loyalty, which in a lively and romantic way seems to portray the character of the Portuguese people, this animal became a true national icon and symbol of the Portuguese home for its option to return to the same nest every year, the same built with mud and straw from this noble land.
